I've tried just about the entire menu and everything is delicious. Cachetadas are my go to!
I found myself on the other side of town from where I usually venture and HAD to stop by Maritza's Pupusas. As someone who's had pupusas before, thanks to one of my best friends who's El Salvadoran, I'm always in the mood for another. These did not disappoint; in fact, they were top-tier! My wife ordered the mixed pupusas with cheese and pork, and each bite was as good as the last. I opted for the tacos, something I hadn't expected to find here, and they were a pleasant surprise. The meat was flavorful, and the tacos were prepared with care, rivaling the pupusas in quality. The location itself is in a small part of town, housed in a charming building. Inside, the room was adorned with elements of cultural significance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured the space was clean and welcoming. Whether you're a pupusa enthusiast or trying them for the first time, Maritza's is a must-visit. The combination of incredible food, a cozy atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a standout spot in Queen Creek. Highly recommend!
I love that there is a spot in the far east valley where I can get pupusas at any time. Go for the combo and get three different pupusas. Most unique is the loroco pupusa. The loroco is an edible flower that offers a very unique flavor experience. It's sort of grassy and floral while slightly earthy. Mixed with cheese and cooked in the dough it's a great match. As they might taste slightly dry make sure you use plenty of curtido with each bite. The restaurant is very small, with an equally small outside dining area, so plan accordingly
Mom and Pop shop/restaurant that's worth a visit! Great flavor and gives you that homemade taste (IYKYK). The pork and cheese papusa was delicious with the coleslaw they give on the side. If you need a pick me up, you can go across the lot to American Ammunition Coffee and grab yourself a cup of joe. Good service and will definitely be coming back. The parking lot is shared with the coffee shop but I had no trouble finding parking. Very low key vibes/ casual atmosphere. There's seating outside too for the cooler days.
Had to try out this Salvadorean restaurant after finding out about it, and it did not disappoint! I had 2 pupusas - loroco and chicharron. I enjoyed both and could taste/see the loroco! The red sauce for the pupusas had a little spicy which was perfect. We also ordered pastelitos and those were incredible. It was crispy even after an hour of being in the takeout box! Would definitely return if in the area!
I recently ate at Maritza's Pupusas, and it was a delightful experience. We ordered several different pupusas, including Loroco, Mixed, and Chicharon. Each one was cooked to perfection. The Loroco pupusa had a unique, slightly tangy taste that was both refreshing and satisfying. The Mixed pupusa offered a wonderful blend of ingredients that complemented each other, while the Chicharon pupusa had just the right amount of crispiness. However, the true highlight of our meal was the pastelitos. These little pockets of joy were some of the best I've ever had. The pastry was perfectly flaky! I would return to Maritza's Pupusas just for the pastelitos alone.
I am a huge fan of pupusas and had Maritza's Pupusas on my list for over a year before I finally made a trip to Queen Creek. I visited on a weekday around 11am. They weren't busy, but customers started to arrive shortly after. I was greeted upon entering and the staff was patient with me as I asked questions and went through my options. The building is small and cozy, but offers ample seating indoor and out. I decided on the zucchini and cheese pupusa as well as a bean and cheese pupusa. They were $3.99 each and come with pickled cabbage salad and salsa. My order was ready and minutes and I couldn't wait to dig in. I took a bite of one of the pupusas in the car and decided I should probably wait to eat the rest at home. Both pupusas were stuffed with tasty fillings and were excellent! I would order them again. I look forward to returning and trying more items on the menu!
These pupusas were seriously good! Really enjoyed the authentic vibe and feeling that this place evokes. Would definitely recommend friends and family looking for a good pupusa. The service we received was great. My parents and grandma were trying pupusa for the first time and the woman at the counter was very helpful with recommending customer favorites. Maritza's has ample indoor and outdoor seating featuring air conditioning and a shaded patio.
I was somewhat skeptical, given the low health score but the reviews had me trying this place anyway! Yum! This is a casual restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered at the counter and sat down, waiting for take-out. They do allow Grubhub orders here. I had a meh pork tamale - the maza was too wet for my liking and didn't have great texture. The pupusas were delicious! Definitely order these over tamales.
